About Robert
Robert Tremblay has dedicated his accounting career to the charitable and not-for-profit sector in Quebec, building one of the province's most respected NFP advisory practices over two decades of specialization. He works with a diverse roster of clients including registered charities, foundations, religious organizations, universities, hospital foundations, and non-profit housing providers across Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Robert is one of very few CPAs in Canada who has deep expertise in all aspects of the CRA charity compliance regime: initial registration, the ongoing public benefit test, the direction and control rules for charitable activities carried on through intermediaries, and the disbursement quota calculations that determine how much a charity must spend on its activities each year. He has helped dozens of organizations through CRA compliance reviews and has successfully appealed registration denials at the Federal Court of Appeal level. His Quebec-specific practice covers the Loi sur les compagnies (Part III), the Loi sur les organismes sans but lucratif, registration with the Registraire des entreprises, and the Revenu Québec QST rebate program for qualifying NPOs. Robert is a frequent speaker at the Imagine Canada sector conference, the Quebec Association of Volunteer Organizations, and the Carrefour des associations de bénévoles du Québec. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Université Laval and is a member of CPA Québec's NFP advisory committee.
