Deepak Gupta

Deepak Gupta has built one of Western Canada's most respected payroll compliance practices over 12 years of specialization in the rules that govern how employers pay and report compensation in Canada. His clients range from small businesses running their first payroll to mid-sized employers with hundreds of employees spread across multiple provinces. Deepak's expertise covers the full payroll compliance spectrum: calculating and remitting CPP1 and CPP2 contributions, EI premiums, and income tax withholdings on the correct schedule for the employer's payroll frequency and remittance category. He is the go-to resource for complex payroll scenarios: stock option benefit reporting, employer-provided automobile and housing benefits, director's fees, retiring allowances, death benefits, and the special rules that apply when employees work in multiple provinces. With the introduction of CPP2 in 2024, Deepak has been advising employers across Alberta on the additional contributions required on earnings above the Year's Maximum Pensionable Earnings, and on the new T4 reporting codes required to separately identify CPP2 amounts.
