Ahmed Hassan

Ahmed Hassan founded Hassan & Partners LLP after a decade in public practice at a national firm, where he developed deep expertise serving the unique tax and compliance needs of federal government contractors, not-for-profit organizations, and indigenous-owned businesses in the National Capital Region. His NFP practice covers the full spectrum of charity and NPO compliance: CRA registration under the Income Tax Act, completion of the T3010 Registered Charity Information Return, GST/HST Public Services Bodies rebate claims, and the governance and disbursement quota rules that charities must follow. Ahmed has successfully navigated several CRA charity revocation proceedings and has re-registered a number of charitable organizations that had lost their status. His government contracting practice addresses the complex tax treatment of government grants, contributions, and contract revenue, including the interplay between PSAB and income tax reporting for entities that straddle the public and private sectors. Ahmed also advises indigenous governments, tribal councils, and indigenous-owned corporations on the tax exemptions available under Section 87 of the Indian Act and the application of the GST/HST Indigenous self-government remission orders. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University and is a member of the Ottawa Community Foundation's grants advisory committee.
